kenyan sports update

Osbrne Monday fails to make grade at Auxerre
Sofapaka midfielder Osborne Monday returned home on Sunday after a month long trials in Europe.

The defensive midfielder had unsuccessful trials at French Ligue 1 side Auxerre, "The trials were an eye opener but things did not work out for me as I would have wanted. I also attended trials at Belgian club Sint-Truiden which were also not fruitful,” said Monday.

“Despite not getting a club, am confident that the experience gained from the short sojourn will help me work even harder before going for other trials in the future," he added.

If the trials would have been successful Monday would have joined another Kenyan international Dennis Oliech who has been at Auxerre for the past three seasons.

Monday formerly played for Mathare United and Azam of Tanzania and also had a stint in Oman.

its a setback in developing kenyas football but we could have missed his services to the Kenyan premier league.

miracle for tottenham hotspurs 4th spot finish

Harry Redknapp has admitted that Tottenham need a "miracle" if they are to finish in the top four this season.

Spurs, are currently six points behind fourth-placed Manchester City with three games to go, are yet to face Roberto Mancini's side at Eastlands on Tuesday.

statistics speak for themselves,in the three games remaining, even two victories for Spurs and as many losses for City may not be enough for the north London outfit to finish fourth, as Roberto Mancini's men have a significantly superior goal difference.

all Redknapp had to do is to concede defeat in the race to fourth place.he is quoted by The Mirror as saying: "I think City have got a fantastic squad. They’re in a great position..."Six points [ahead], better goal difference by miles. It will take a miracle."

the former manager of the year is pessimistic that Spurs have a chance to finish in the top four next season.

"As I’ve said a million times, who is going to drop out?" he said. "I don’t think Man United are going to drop out of the top four.

"Chelsea, I don’t think they’re going to drop out.

"Arsenal have been there every year. Who is going to come out?

"City, they’re going to spend another £200 million probably this summer. Liverpool are going to improve.

"So it’s very hard to get into that top four, very, very difficult."

Do you think spurs have a chance to get into the top four spots next season? If not what should they do?

Arsenals Robin Van Persie goal scoring record

Sunday, May 08, 2011 was not a very good day for arsenal FC considering the fact that they lost to Stoke City 3-1.Nevertheless, the only consolation goal in that game earned them an outstanding premier league record that has been otherwise remained unshaken since 2009.

The record was set by the ace striker Robin Van Persie who extended his goal scoring Premier League record by netting in his eighth successive away match goal! The previous record holder was Chelsea's Didier Drogba with goals in six successive away games between August and November 2009.
